President Donald Trump says the United States will run Venezuela until a “safe transition”, adding that the US will be “very strongly involved” in Venezuela’s oil industry.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been brought to New York.
Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez slammed Maduro’s “kidnapping”, saying he is “the only president of Venezuela”.
Venezuela’s government said the US attacked civilian and military installations in multiple states.
On Thursday, Maduro indicated he was open to negotiating a deal with the US to combat drug trafficking.
