George Floyd was not the first unarmed Black man to die at the hands of the US police officers.

But the shocking video of his arrest in Minneapolis a year ago reverberated across the United States and the world.

The case reignited longstanding anger at police brutality in the US and triggered what many call a global reckoning on racism.
