Vancouver taxi dispute ends in stabbing

Two men are in hospital with serious stab wounds and one man is in jail after a dispute over who had the right to an available taxi.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. PT, police say two men flagged down a taxi near the corner Hamilton and Davie Streets.As the men were getting into the cab, they got into a fight with two other men who claimed it was their taxi.

During the fight, two men were stabbed. Ambulance paramedics drove the men, who police say were suffering from serious stab wounds, to hospital.

Police found the two other men, believed to have been involved in the altercation, a short distance from the scene of the stabbing.

One of them, a 24-year-old Surrey man, has been arrested on two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

The suspect remains in police custody.Police say both victims are in stable condition.
