A Canadian kickboxer who fell into a coma after losing a world championship fight, has died.

Derek Clements, 30, died Wednesday at a hospital in his hometown of London, Ont. He had been transferred from Grand Rapids, Mich., after undergoing brain surgery.

Clements was knocked down three times in Sunday's fight, but appeared lucid after he lost the match. He gave a post-fight interview to a local public-access television station.

An hour and a half later, after taking a shower, Clements complained of feeling cold. He soon lost consciousness and was taken to hospital.

Devin Clements said his brother was kept on life support so he could be moved to London where his organs could be donated. "We have a family member who needs kidneys," he said.
