62-year-old Vancouver woman struck and killed by garbage truck

A 62-year-old Vancouver womanis dead after being struck by a garbage truck near the intersection of Kingsway and Broadway around 9 a.m. PT. Saturday.

Vancouver police spokesman Const. Brian Montaguesays the northboundgarbage truck was making a right turn from Broadway onto Kingsway Avenue when it hit the woman.

"Police and paramedics were called to the scene, but the woman had clearly not survived her injuries," said Montague.

Police say the driver of the truck was visibly shaken, but cooperative. They are currently acquiring video to assist in their investigation.
