Police identify Tyrone Tullock as victim of fatal shooting near Etobicoke

Toronto police have identified the victim of a shooting near Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West as 26-year-old Tyrone Tullock of Toronto.

Toronto police have identified the victim of a shooting near Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West as 26-year-old Tyrone Tullock of Toronto.

Police say approximately four to five shots were fired at around 5 p.m. near Dellbrook Crescentand Larchmere Avenue on Tuesday.

Officers found the man onthe groundwith gunshot wounds and administered first aidwith the help of paramedics.

Tullockwas pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

There are still no detailson a suspectbut police sayablackcar was seen leaving the area.

A resident who's lived on a street near Larchmere Avenue for nine years told CBC News she heard about six or seven shots at around 5 p.m. and immediately called 911.

"It's not something that you think would happen at five in the afternoon," said the woman who didn't want to be identified on camera. "It's a family-oriented neighbourhood, it's safe, our kids play outside, so to have had this happened really shakes me up."

Chris Zapata, who recently moved to the neighbhourhood, expressed his shock at what happened Tuesday.

"That's crazy!," he said. "That makes me feel like not wanting to live here."

Coun. Giorgio Mammoliti,who represents the wardwhere the shooting happened, said he suspects the shooting is connected to aspate of violencethe city has seen in recent days.

He suggested thatthe federal government should send in the military to help defuse violent crimes in the city.
