Hamilton Police charge 78-year-old woman with stunt driving

Police in Flamborough spotted a car going twice the speed limit on Wednesday. The driver, police say, was a 78-year-old woman.

Police say they registered a woman going 140 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Wednesday

A Hamilton cop doing traffic enforcement says he spotted a vehicle going 140 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Wednesday around 10 p.m.

Behind the wheel? A 78-year-old woman who's now facing stunt driving charges.

The officer was near Centre Road and Huisam Lane in Flamborough.

Police seized her licence and her vehicle will be impounded for 7 days.

"Every day police officers find drivers of all ages who choose to speed," said Hamilton Police Const. Stephen Welton. "The mindset or belief that 'it won't happen to me'is most concerning."
