New Maison de Radio-Canada will rise next to existing one

In a news release Wednesday, CBC/Radio-Canada announced that its board of directors had shortlisted two proposals for the broadcasters new Montreal headquarters both at the current site of the Maison de Radio-Canada.

The new Maison de Radio-Canada will likely be located at the corner of Ren-Lvesque Boulevard Eastand PapineauAvenue right next door to its current location.

In a news release Wednesday, CBC/Radio-Canada announced that its board of directors hadshortlisted two proposals for the broadcaster's new Montreal headquarters, both next to its current address at 1400Ren-LvesqueBoulevard East.

The two finalists are a group led by Broccolini Construction and another by Busac and Pomerleau.

"With this decision, the public broadcaster is committed to remaining in the neighbourhood where it currently resides," the news release states.

Both groups will now make more detailed proposals for the site's development, and a final choice is expected this fall.

The new headquarters will be "a dynamic, creatively stimulating space"and "the hub for a new wave of digital creativity," saidLouis Lalande, Executive Vice-President of CBC/Radio-Canada French Services.

The sale of the existing Maison de Radio-Canada building should also be finalized this fall. Four bids are being considered.

Both decisions will have to be approved by the Treasury Board of Canada.
