Puppy Parties create fun, cuddly way to support a good cause

Staff morale down? Want a cuddly way to start your day? Maybe a puppy party is for you.

A coalition between a dog rescue and a local businesshas started hosting puppy parties at local businesses. The New Hope Dog Rescue, which has found new homes for 1,500 dogs since its founding, will bring in a litter of puppies to play with any business that asks.

"Everybody really wants to come in and, you know, play with the puppies,' executive director Tami Vangool told CBC Radio's Saskatoon Morning. "It's pretty awesome."

The parties are hosted and organized by Britebox Storage Company, which provides the dog rescue with the resources to hold the events. The parties have been a big boost for the organization.

"Some people want to have an office pet," said Vangool. "Some want to take them home immediately. Most of the puppies, by the time they do get to a puppy party, actually have quite a few adoption applications in for them already."

Meanwhile, the excitement seemed to be infectious. The puppies managed to warm the hearts of even the mosthardened journalists in the CBC newsroom.

"I was on my belly, having a puppy party on my chest," said CBC reporter Dan Zakreski. "And it was great."
