Islander getting out the Democratic vote in Florida

Prince Edward Islander Bea Keaveny can't vote in the U.S. election, but that hasn't stopped her from doing what she can to support Hillary Clinton.

Keaveny is in Lake Worth, Fla., where she spends the winters. For the last few weeks she has been knocking on the doors of registered Democrats in her neighbourhood, making sure they get out and vote.

"Florida is such an important state," she said.

"If Hillary wins Florida it's pretty well guaranteed she's won the election."

The ground game

The campaign to get out the vote is key to the final days of the campaign, and an area where the Democrats are seen to have an advantage.

Keaveny's husband is an American and a Democrat, so in part she is campaigning for him, but she also believes in Clinton.

"She's absolutely the best candidate. There's no question," she said.

Keaveny will be out marshalling the vote again Tuesday afternoon. Because of her work, she has an invitation to watch the election results at a local hotel with other Democrat organizers and volunteers.
