Lawrence Hill is the internationally bestselling author of The Book of Negroes, which won CBC's Canada Reads in 2009 and was adapted into a six-part miniseries for CBC-TV. His most recent novel,The Illegal,won Canada Readsin 2016 and was defended by Olympian Clara Hughes. His previous novels includeSome Great Thing and Any Known Blood. He is also the author of Black Berry, Sweet Juice, a memoir about growing up black and white in Canada, and Blood: The Stuff of Life, a series of essays from his 2013 Massey Lectures. Hill volunteers with Canadian Crossroads International, the Black Loyalist Heritage Society and Project Bookmark Canada. He lives in Hamilton, Ont.and Woody Point, NL.
