Two people from London, Ont. arrested in connection with 145 kg cheese heist

An investigation determined someone broke into the Village Cheese Mill in South West Oxford Township, east of London, Ont. and made off with more than 145 kilograms of cheese and other items worth an estimated $6,200.

A man and woman from London have been arrested in connection with an especially cheesy caper.

An investigation determined someone broke in to the Village Cheese Mill in South West Oxford Township, east of London, Ont. and made off with more than 145 kilograms of cheese and other items worth an estimated $6,200.

Provincial police have arrested two suspects, who have also been charged with a previous break and enter at the same store on Dec. 27.

A 49-year-old man has been charged with two counts of break and enter and possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000.

A 40-year-old womanfaces the same charges with the addition of two counts of failing to comply witha probation order.

Meat sticks, Marilyn Monroe stamps stolen

After the theft, police released a long list of the stolen cheeses that included two 3.2 kilogram blocks of havarti, five wheels of gouda, 18 kilograms of cheese curds, more than 30 kilograms of cheddar, and 10 kilograms of sizzling hot jalapeno.

Cash, DVDs, fudge, meat sticks, maple syrup, garbage tags, chocolate bars, stamps,international books, pre-stamped envelopes and Marilyn Monroe stamps were also stolen, according to the OPP.
