Prairie Winds Park reopened Friday afternoon after a makeover that includes a zip line, cricket pitch, and scooter bowl.

Prairie Winds Park reopened Friday afternoon after a makeover that includes a zip line, cricket pitch, and scooter bowl.

The park at 223 Castleridge Blvd N.E.had been partially closed while the new featureswere under construction.

There's a new "playscape," tennis and basketball courts, and a picnic area with a tandoori oven and tables. A wading pool and lazy river will be opening in June.

The opening Friday attracted many people excited to explore the new facilities.

"Our money has been put to good use," saidKabilenRaj, who enjoyed the park with his family. "We want our next generation to be outside and play, and use their motor skills. The whole upgrading and renovation of the park helps with that."

The overhaul was estimated to cost $12 million.
