Here's what we know about the Alberta victims of the Iran plane crash

The crash of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752claimed the lives of 63 people who were residing in Canada, many of whom were from Edmonton.

CBC has identified 15 Alberta victims

The crash of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752claimed the lives of 63 people who were residing in Canada, many of whom were from Edmonton.

All 176 people on board the Kyiv-bound Boeing 737 were killed when the plane crashed after take off from Tehran's main airport.

Initial reports from multiple sources and community members indicated that as many as 30 people connected to the Edmonton community died in the crash. So far, CBC News has been able to confirm 15Alberta victims.

  • Sara Saadat:Choupannejad'stwo daughters also died in the crash.Sara Saadat, born in 1996, was a clinical psychology student. She graduated from the University of Alberta in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science and had been accepted to continue studies at Alliant International University in San Diego.

  • Saba Saadat:SabaSaadat, born in 1998, was in her last semester at the U of A completing a Bachelor of Science degree and had begun applying to medical schools.

  • Pedram Mousavi:Mousaviwasmarried to Daneshmand. The Universityof Alberta professor of mechanical engineering and research specialist in wireless applicationshad degrees fromIran University of Science and Technology andUniversity of Manitoba.

  • Daria and Dorina Mousavi:Daneshmand's andMousavi's daughters. Daria was born in 2005and Dorina in 2010.

  • Arshia Arbabbahrami:An international student at Western Canada High School who was returning to Canada after spending the holidays with his family in Iran. He had attended the Calgary school for three years.
  • Kasra Saati: An aircraft mechanic with Viking Air, he lived in Calgary.

  • Amir Saeedinia: Was a PhD student at the Center for Design of Advanced Materialsat the University of Alberta focusing on the general area of computational modeling of ceramic-metal materials.
  • Nasim Rahmanifar: A mechanical engineering student at the University of Alberta. She was working on her master's degree andaccording to friendswas considering continuing on to a doctorate.
  • Elnaz Nabiyi: Another member of the University of Alberta community, as confirmed byAlberta's Minister of Advanced Education.
  • Mohammad Mahdi Elyasi:Another member of the University of Alberta community, as confirmed byAlberta's Minister of Advanced Education. Most recently, he lived in Toronto.
