Watch Chappell Roan's incredible cover of Heart's 'Barracuda'

Chappell Roan has quickly become one of the biggest breakout pop stars of the year thanks to hits like "Good Luck, Babe!," "Hot to Go" and "Pink Pony Club."

But that sudden fame has impacted Roan in recent months. In August, she called out inappropriate fan behaviour, which included stalking and harassment of herself and her family."I feel more love than I ever have in my life," she said in a social media post. "I feel the most unsafe I have ever felt in my life."

Just last week, she fired back against those who misconstrued her quote in an interview where she explained why she refuses to endorse a candidate for the upcoming U.S. presidential election. "I'm voting for f--king Kalama," she clarified in anothersocial media post, "but I'm not settling for what has been offered because that's questionable."This led to Roandroppingout ofherAll Things Go festival appearances last weekend, citing that "things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks," and that she needed to prioritize her mental health.

This week, Roan returned to the stage, picking upher U.S. tour. At her show in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Roan and her band performed a fierce cover of "Barracuda," the 1977 hit by American-Canadian band, Heart.Introducing it as "my favourite song," Roan channelled a similar sense of anger that powers the original.

Heart's members wrote the song, in part,as a response to their label, whichfabricated stories of an incestuous relationship between sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson as a publicity stunt. It's clear from the song choice that Roan, too, is pushing back against misinformation as she belts out on the chorus: "The real thing don't do the trick, no?/ You better make up something quick."
