Into the Blizzard

In this travelogue, Michael Winter retraces the footsteps of Newfoundland soldiers across Europe's World War One battlefields.

Michael Winter

Michael Winter won First Prize in the CBC Short Story Competition in 2004, but not before having to cut "The Point David Made Earlier" in half on the day of the deadline when he realized he had misunderstood the word count. Winter's storytelling talents are on display again in Into the Blizzard, a memoir-travelogue about a trip he took to the World War One battlefields of Europe to retrace the footsteps of the dead soldiers who came from Newfoundland's small villages.
