Doctor shortage severe says Kamloops physician

There are far too many people looking for doctors, and not enough doctors in Kamloops (CBC)

If you've moved to the Kamloops-area in the last couple of years, chances are you don''t have a family doctor.

Most physicians are booked up, and they're not taking new patients. Anyone needing an appointment is told to visit a drop-in clinic and sometimes the hospital emergency room.
 
Doctor Sze is the physician lead of the Thompson region division of family practice. She tells host Shelley Joyce there is a high demand for doctors that can't be met right now.

Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid, a family doctor herself, says the provincial government is aware of the problem and is working on fixing it.
