Aspen Sterzer is only 18-years-old but the Kamloops Blazers' forward is an old soul.

He was forced to grow up fast in the winter of 2006 when he was just 12, when he and his family were involved in a terrible car accident near their hometown of Canal Flats, in the Kootenays.

Reporter Marty Hastings talked to the Sterzer family about the day that changed their lives, and shares that experience with Daybreak Kamloops host, Shelley Joyce.
