Caught Out In A Storm
Caught Out In A Storm is the story of the infamous sealing disaster of 1914. It is the story of the sealers who were caught in a vicious winter storm off the northeast coast of Newfoundland.

Seventy-seven men froze to death on the ice fields. No one went looking for them because no one knew they were missing. And then there were the survivors, many of whom were left blinded and crippled.

Last year Land and Sea producer Fred Greening was asked to judge a heritage fair at an elementary school. He was moved by the compelling presentation of a 15 year old girl whose great-great grandfather was one of those who perished on the ice. It inspired Fred to find who else might still have connections to this tragic chapter in the Newfoundland sealing industry.
