Awesome group Halloween costumes for you and your crew

This year you can trick or treat as a troupe

An argument can be made that Halloween is the friend holiday to end all friend holidays. Not only can you roll through every single party dressed as AN-Y-THING, you can do it with your entire squad. As a bonus, the collective costume ups the street cred of any one getup, no matter how creative. A basic banana costume is immediately elevated if it's flanked by a row of great apes.

Here are some fun, accessible ensemble costumes for any rabble of revelers intent on partying in a pack .

Old School Archie

Some things are eternal. Archie, the ginger prince of Riverdale, and friends Jughead, Betty and Veronica are just as relevant today as ever. Thanks to The CW's dark reimagining of the comics, the teen trials of this crew persist. But go old-school to offset the gloomy millennial version with some '50s bubblegum golden-era innocence. You can easily grab ready-to-wear costumes but a DIY version of each is totally manageable with a trip to your local thrift store (and maybe a large yellow "R" sewn somewhere visible). Of course, if you know a ginger, two brunettes and a blonde you could go super low key and just sport the Riverdale hoodie. Rock those school colors.

Shark Week

If two hundred years from now Shark Week was referred to as "the holidays", we won't be surprised. For this collective costume all you need is seven friends and seven shark costumes. But mix it up with a Sand shark, Hammerhead, Lemon shark, Thresher shark or Great White. There are well over 400 species. Again, just seven will do. Then DIY the days of the week onto your suits in marker with a stencil or some felt letters. Add blood to your suits if you're feeling more feeding frenzy than friendly fish. Swim responsibly.

Mario Crew

Should your gang want to elicit numerous high fives from the countless gamers that walk amongst us, the Mario group suit up is an easy win. The only real challenge with this costume is deciding who in your crew will be Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, or Toad. Maybe draw straws for Toad. Pro-tip: DIY some cardboard cars to wear over these iconic cosplay staples and make this a Mario Kart collective. You could drive away with some costume prizes.

Cheat Day Crew

If getting noticed this year is high on your list, you could do worse than dressing up as a beloved savoury snack. Standard junk food has a way of galvanizing our allegiances, so why not go en masse as all of them. Unity. At the very least this comestible cosplay could spark lively debates about the virtues of the taco as juxtaposed with the merits of a slice of pizza. Or unpacking that age old battle: hotdog vs hamburger. We already know who the more formidable snack is in the french fries vs popcorn discourse. Pro-tip: photodocument a late-night after party snack trip with everyone in the crew eating the food they're dressed as and you'll have created Instagram gold. Gold.

Woodland Creatures Crew

This is a two-fer. Your status as both Canadians and band of halloween heros is almost assured when you don an assortment of woodland creature costumes. Go ahead and make these furries as adorable or ostentatious as the team sees fit. Once you figure out which animal spirit you want to invoke (be it owl, fox, moose, deer, or beaver) you can decide if your chosen forest mammal (or bird) is brazen or demure. Want your wildlife exhibit to be PG-13? Just bring pants! Appropriate animal calls and vocalizations optional, as is trail mix. No matter what you wear, make sure the designated lumberjack (or jill) reserves the right to chop down any jerks who think that this is a petting zoo.

Recommended Daily Intake Crew

The beauty of this costume ensemble is that some experts recommend as many as 13 fruits and veggies a day so you can bring the whole crisper drawer if you have a big crew. Plus, it'll give you an excuse to remind everyone that a tomato is actually fruit. You can get the whole bowl of fruit including grapes, orange, strawberry, tomato, pineapple, banana online.
