Build your own obstacle course

Build your own obstacle course

Spend time with the kids and get outside with a homemade obstacle course in your backyard. No need to spend extra money. Use items readily available in your house to set up an age-appropriate course. Plan out each challenge and get the kids to help. Have a timer ready and see how fast they can go.

Here are some ideas for your obstacle course:

Lay out a series of hula hoops on the ground for the kids to hop over.

Put a broom stick across two chairs and have kids crawl under as a challenge.

Throw a small ball or bean bag into a basket.

Lay a skipping rope down on the ground as a "tightrope" for kids to walk across.

Have kids waddle with a ball between their knees.

Do a lap with a tricycle or bike.

Lay out a series of boxes to create a "tunnel" for kids to crawl through.

Get kids to run backwards.

Dribble a basketball around a few chairs.
