I'm part of: The YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford

#1 Health Goal: To be in my best physical and mental shape possible, while helping others to explore and develop similar goals. I'm a qualified Zumba instructor who teaches Latin Funk fitness classes at the YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford.I enjoy helping people improve their health by taking part in these fun, lively, Latin-inspired dance fitness classes. It's nice when you see their success!

Biggest Challenge: As a people-pleaser it came naturally to me to put other people's needs and work needs ahead of my own.I've learned to honour and respect that my needs are just as important.

Biggest Accomplishment: I have two major accomplishments to share.

My first is health-related. To date I've lost a total of 130 pounds.That's a whole person! To be honest, I couldn't be where I am today without the support of so many people - including my friends at the YMCA - who've been there beside me, making me accountable when I needed them most. 

My second life-changing experience was travelling to Tibet and seeing Mount Everest in person. This mountain symbolized my personal journey and the many obstacles and challenges I facedalong the way. I never thought I could ever lose 100 pounds, but I did it. I never thought in a million years I'd see Mount Everest in person, but with sheer determination, hard work and so much love and support from others I witnessed its magic and breathtaking beauty. It was life-changing.

I will continue to Live Right Now by: 

1. Continuing to help people achieve their fitness goals by making these Latin-inspired fitness classes accessible to everyone.

2. Continuing to honour those who invested in me along the way by paying it forward and investing in others.

3. Continuing to keep it real by always making time in my day for me.

Personal Tip for Canadians: Healthy people say no! No, I'm not available. No thank you, I'm full. No, I'm sorry but I have a prior commitment. They protect their time to do what they enjoy most. Give yourself permission to do the same.
