Giacomo Panico

Giacomo Panico is the interim producer and host of In Town and Out, heard Saturday morning on CBC Radio One (91.5 FM in Ottawa).

Born and raised in Ottawa, Giacomo has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University. He worked as a tour guide and educational program manager at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, before moving on to the National Capital Commission to develop and manage educational programs.

In 2006, Giacomo pushed the career reset button. He volunteered at CKCU-FM in Ottawa, then started working as a freelance broadcaster for CBC, reporting, preparing programs, and occasionally reading the news. He also worked as an assignment editor and fill-in host for various CBC Ottawa programs. In addition to his duties as host/producer for In Town and Out, Giacomo is a reporter three days a week.

Giacomo is an amateur chef and avid cyclist, competing in sprint triathlons when he can. He has his pilot's license, and was a glider instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
