Mary-Jean Cormier

Mary-Jean Cormier is a long time CBC journalist, host of Superior Morning, and true Northwestern Ontario fan.

Mary-Jean was born and raised in Thunder Bay, but also lived several young years in Kenora. The youngest of six, she developed a strong sense of family and a wide variety of interests; whether spending time outdoors, watching political campaigns or playing sports.

Before pursuing journalism, Mary-Jean dedicated her time and talents to youth leadership, anti-racism initiatives and community development throughout the Northwest.

She joined CBC as a roving reporter in 2000, and worked in stations across Ontario, before heading to British Columbia for her first stint as a morning show host. She loved having the opportunity to tell stories of coastal and northern B.C. life, but would return to Thunder Bay to tell the stories of her own city and region for nearly two decades on the Superior Morning news desk.

When not at the station, Mary-Jean can often be found at one of her three sons hockey games or school activities, or perhaps paddling in a dragonboat of breast cancer survivors. She and her husband and sons love to travel - but you might also find her in a hammock at her family camp with a good book.
