Shannon Scott

Shannon Scott started preparing for her career with CBC at the ripe old age of two, when she could be found running through the house yelling "from coast to coast and around the world on shortwave, this is As it Happens!" Needless to say her parents were not surprised when she told them she was going to work for the public broadcaster.

Shannon is currently the weather and climate change reporter for CBC North, where not only does she talk about the weather on Northbeat, Trails End, and Airplay, but she also reports on significant climate stories affecting Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Shannon started her CBC career in Yellowknife as a video journalist covering stories ranging from the revitalisation of Indigenous languages, to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, to young baseball fans in Kugluktuk, Nunavut, to Yellowknife's first bubble soccer game, before moving to Calgary to host CBC Calgary News at 11.

She didn't stay away from the north long though, returning in 2021 to Yellowknife, the place that feels the most like home.

You can catch her on CBC TV's Northbeat nightly in all three territories.

She's also a regular contributor to CBC Radio One's Trails End in the Northwest Territories, and Airplay in Yukon.
