CBC’s new cross-platform approach to covering the arts can be experienced firsthand at cbc.ca/arts. The feed is   all-encompassing, bringing together arts-related content from across the network, with new material from various media platforms, including original TV series EXHIBITIONISTS, CRASH GALLERY and INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM, and original digital series   THE COLLECTIVE, CANADA IN THE FRAME and THE RE-EDUCATION OF EDDY ROGO.

“We are excited to launch our new arts programming initiative, celebrating creativity and the incredible artistic talent in this country,” said Jennifer   Dettman, executive director, unscripted content at CBC. “From Instagram to opera, art is for everyone. We want to make it easily accessible and widely   shareable, inspiring Canadians of all ages to engage in the arts.”

Whether you’re a culture vulture, a working artist or just a dabbler in the arts, CBC Arts will keep Canadians coming back for more.

        CRASH GALLERY
      Premieres Friday, October 2, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. (9 p.m. NT) on CBC Television

Hosted by Sean O’Neill, associate director of adult programming and partnerships at the Art Gallery of Ontario, CRASH GALLERY is a high-energy and   immersive series that brings art to life through the thrill of competition. Three talented artists compete against each other in a real-time creative   arena, giving the audience a front-row seat to the creative process. The challenges cover everything from traditional paint and canvas to graffiti art,   sculpture and any and all creative endeavors in between.

        EXHIBITIONISTS
      Premieres Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. (5 p.m. NT) on CBC Television

This vibrant series pulls back the curtain on people who create art and why they do it. Hosted by Amanda Parris, EXHIBITIONISTS features   Canadian artists, both emerging and established, as they reshape our country’s artistic landscape. Topical, innovative and entertaining, the show explores   the most exciting cultural happenings across Canada. The show’s approach is to commission original video content from filmmakers across the country, packaged in a visually exciting and fast-paced format for TV viewers. Encompassing media old and new, from opera to Instagram,  EXHIBITIONISTS is for everyone who is curious about the arts.

        INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM
      Premieres Friday, November 6, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. (9 p.m. NT) on CBC Television

INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM   is a five-part, 30-minute series that reveals the surprisingly vital cultural underbellies of global cities that have recently suffered   war, disaster or unrest. Featuring the turbulent cities of Beirut, Kiev, Athens, Port-au-Prince, and Medellin in Columbia, each compelling episode follows   three or four passionate young artists and includes one Canadian ex-pat. These artists break the status quo of their environments to bring us art as a form   of protest, as a means of survival, as an agent of change and as a display of courage. Each brings us into their world, taking us through the streets of   their urban environments to discover the creativity and vitality of some of the world’s most resilient cities.

        THE RE-EDUCATION OF EDDY ROGO
Premieres online Thursday, October 1, 2015

Eddy Rogo, star of THE RE-EDUCATION OF EDDY ROGO, is a wheeler and dealer in the world of art and antiques. He moves millions of dollars   in art every year, doing business with some of the world’s most recognized—and wealthiest—collectors. When Eddy sees art, he sees the price tag first.   So what happens when Eddy ventures away from the museum pieces he values with a practiced eye, and into the studios of young, idealistic, emerging artists?   In this CBC Arts digital production, produced by Whalley Abbey Media, Eddy will meet eight Canadian visual artists, from a sculptor who makes art out of   real grenades, to an artist whose coffee spills onto her canvases, on purpose, to a taxidermist whose quirky dioramas incorporate road kill.

        THE COLLECTIVE
Premieres online Sunday, October 4, 2015

THE COLLECTIVE   is a CBC Arts digital project that gives artists a powerful vehicle to tell their own stories. CBC Arts and Emmy® Award-winning interactive agency Secret   Location teamed up to commission videos from artist collectives across the country—from dance to street art to writing—and put the production of the   videos in the hands of the artists themselves. No longer dependent on a network of elites to disseminate their works to audiences, artists are navigating the digital world themselves, often taking camera in hand to shoot their own content and uploading the results directly to social media. For   THE COLLECTIVE, everything—from scripting to shooting to editing—was done by the artists themselves. Each video is a testament to the   unifying power of art.

        CANADA IN THE FRAME
Premieres online Monday, November 16, 2015

For CANADA IN THE FRAME, CBC enlisted museum curators and art historians to take part in an original and surprising social experiment: in   a pop-up art gallery fitted with micro-cameras and audio recording devices, ordinary people take the place of art critics, speaking candidly about the   pieces they’re viewing. Watch as the series introduces the world of art to everyday Canadians, both in the gallery and to TV audiences, while getting a   sometimes humorous, always fascinating sneak peek at gallery-goers’ spontaneous reactions to a wide variety of historical and contemporary Canadian art.
