Tonight on The National, Margaret Evans and Chris Brown will be reporting live from the UK on public reaction there and what comes next. THE QUEEN IN CANADA

Tonight, CBC TV will broadcast the documentary The Queen and Canada at 8 p.m. local time. In this moving documentary, chief correspondent Adrienne Arsenault was given rare access to Windsor Castle and examines the deep connection and complicated relationship between Queen Elizabeth and Canada. She speaks with high-profile and everyday Canadians who share stories of their personal encounters with the Queen. Also available to stream now on CBC Gem.

CBC NEWS SPECIAL: THE KING’S ADDRESS

Join host Heather Hiscox for live coverage of King Charles III’s first address to the UK and Commonwealth beginning at 12:30 p.m. on CBC News Network and cbcnews.ca, and joined in progress at 1 p.m. ET on CBC TV. A broadcast special on CBC Radio One and CBC Listen hosted by Marcia Young will also begin at 1 p.m. ET

THE CORONATION DOCUMENTARY

In this one-hour documentary, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II shares her memories of her 1953 Coronation ceremony, marking the 65th anniversary of the occasion. Viewing rarely seen film footage, and looking at some of the priceless Crown Jewels themselves, the Queen recalls the day the Crown and the hopes of a nation were placed on her shoulders. The Coronation will broadcast Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. (1:30 NT) on CBC TV and is also streaming for free on CBC Gem.

Then, Canadian governance expert Philippe Lagassé explains what changes to expect over the weeks and months to come. And Indigenous environmental activist Dahti Tsetso talks about her meeting with the new king earlier this year. DAY 6

Saturday morning on Day 6 — host Saroja Coelho looks at what Balmoral Estate meant to Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen died at Balmoral Estate in the Scottish Highlands on Thursday — a place that’s held a great deal of significance throughout her life. It’s where she spent many summers as a child and later met her husband. It is said she liked to serve guests, wash dishes and “play act” a normal life while at Balmoral, according to writer and historian Hadley Meares. Tune in Saturday morning at 10 a.m., 10:30 in Newfoundland and Labrador on CBC Radio One and on the free CBC Listen app.
