Fighting Wildfire On the Ground With Infrared Pictures From The Sky

Scientists help save lives by getting crews on the ground instant data from the sky.

One of the hottest areas in wildfire science is remote sensing, using infrared cameras and thermal imagery to get instant data on a wildfire. Federal fire scientist Josh Johnston, Canada’s foremost expert on this new technology, takes us on a test flight in northern Ontario.
