Stevie Wonder, Eric Benet, Faith Evans pay musical tribute to Prince in L.A.
Musicians perform outside Los Angeles city hall to crowd of thousands wearing purple
Stevie Wonder appeared on stage before a crowd of thousands in front of city hall in Los Angeles Friday night to pay tribute to Prince.
"What an incredible life, music and legacy that he gave us," Wonder told the crowd, many of whom were dressed in purple."I think the only thing we can do in the spirit of Prince is to learn to truly love one another and come together."
Prince died April 21 at his recording studio home in suburban Minneapolis. He was 57.The cause is still being investigated.
Benet, who is married to Prince's former Canadian wife Manuela Testolini,performed Rasberry Beret and I WannaBe Your Lover.Evans sang I Feel for You.
City hall waschosen for the musiceventpartly because it's the locationwhere Prince filmed the video for his 1991 songDiamonds and Pearls.
