Charlie Sheen takes fans for bipolar walk

Charlie Sheen asked fans to do a bipolar awareness walk with him on Friday before his second gig in Toronto.

The troubled TV star made the request via Twitter after launching his My Violent Torpedo of Truth tour to mixed reviews in the cityon Thursday night.

Sheen asked fans to meet him at the Ritz Carlton hotel at 6 p.m. local timeand walk with him to Massey Hall, where he performed for a second night with Canadian comedian Russell Peters.

Sheen showed up about 45 minutes late and led a troupe of his fans through the streets of the city.

The embattled actor said he was doing it to raise funds for a Calgary-based organization that supports those with bipolar disorder, and promised he would match all donations.

Sheen has a history of drug and alcohol problems, and last month, his erratic behaviour prompted Warner Bros. tofire him from the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men.

When told in recent interview with ABC News that some people feel he might have bipolar disorder, Sheen said he's not bipolar but "bi-winning."

Sheen's spokesman, Larry Solters, said the bipolar awareness walk, in support of the Organization For Bipolar Affective Disorders Society, was a spontaneous decision.

"He just came up with this on his own," Solters told The Canadian Press on Friday afternoon.

"He's trying to create awareness for bipolar and somehow he got hooked up with that organization, OBAD. ... This just came about in the last 12 hours."

Sheen kicked off his 21-city tour tobrutal reviews April 2 in Detroit, and though he's since switched up the format, reaction has remained mixed.

The My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option Show is set to hit Vancouver May 2.
