With Canadian director David Cronenberg drawing attention at Cannes with the upcoming release of Cosmopolis, the TIFFGroup is getting ready to celebrate his film career with a new exhibition.

The Cronenberg exhibition will launch in fall 2013 in Toronto then begin touring in 2014.

It will pull together artifacts, props, sets and interviews from throughout Cronenbergs career, which began with horror classics such as Scanners, Crash and The Fly.

Curators Piers Handling and Noah Cowan hope to restore the directors early film catalogue and make it available.

"The exhibition parallels his growth as a filmmaker with his ongoing examination and interpretation of human evolutionary possibilities, tracing his work from a focus on biological change towards examinations of shifting psychological states," they said in a statement released Wednesday.

TIFF has preserved Cronenbergs papers and objects in a special archive over the last 20 years.

There are also plans for a newly commissioned reality game, The Worlds of David Cronenberg, that will complement the exhibition.

Cronenbergs recent films include A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method. He is considered one of Canada's most influential directors.

His Cosmopolis, based on the Don DeLillo novel, bows at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday before going into commercial release. It stars Robert Pattinson, formerly of Twilight fame, as the young billionaire asset manager riding his car across Manhattan.
