Vancouver police say they are investigating a man they say targeted pop star Carly Rae Jepsen.

The criminal investigation was launched after Jepsen's camp contacted the department in March, Const. Lindsey Houghton confirmed Wednesday.

"We began an investigation," Houghton said. "That investigation is into the unauthorized use of a computer, theft of telecommunications and the criminal harassment of Miss Jepsen.

"At this time, one suspect an adult male has been identified. He has not been arrested, he has not been charged and the investigation is continuing."

The Mission, B.C., pop star soared to fame with catchy hit Call Me Maybe. The single reached the top of the charts in Canada, the United States, Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Houghton declined to release details because the investigation is continuing, saying only it centres on allegations relating to online images of Jepsen. Local media reports indicate the investigation may involve nude photos or an alleged sex tape scandal.

Houghton said investigators have spoken with the suspect, whois not from Vancouver.

"The complaint was made to us so we led the investigation and we decided to keep it," he said.
