Juno winners Tegan and Sara, rock troupe Arkells and indie pop singer Hannah Georgas are on the bill for the second annual CBCMusic.ca Festival, set to descend on Vancouver this June.

The fledgling music fest will be held this year on June 14 at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, B.C.

The lineup launches with Tegan and Sara, whose blockbuster song Closer from their latest album Heartthrob has turned the popular Canadian duo into international indie rock sensations. The Calgary-raised twins were one of the biggest winners this weekend at the Juno Awards in Winnipeg.

Hamilton, Ont. alt-rockers Arkells, currently at work on a third album due this summer, will also play the festival.

This year's event will offer up some hometown flavour by way of several B.C. acts, including rising singer-songwriter Hannah Georgas, indie popsters Wake Owl and orchestral pop band The Belle Game. Also slated for the CBCMusic.ca Festival are:

  • The winner of the 2014 CBC Music Searchlight competition.
  • Award-winning Ojibwa country artist Crystal Shawanda
  • Calgary alt-rock and electronica artist Chad VanGaalen.
  • Punk rock troupe Spoon.

Hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, the daylong festival will also feature appearances from CBC hosts Tom Power, Rich Terfry, Stephen Quinn, Gloria Macarenko, Renee Filippone and a set by CBC Radio comedy program The Irrelevant Show.

The inaugural CBCMusic.ca Festival, arranged by the streaming music service of CBC/Radio-Canada, was held in May 2013 at Echo Beach in Toronto. Acts included Sam Roberts BAnd, Kathleen Edwards and Corb Lund.
