Bombardier says its long-delayed CS100 aircraft has completed certification flight testing and is awaiting a final review and acceptance by Transport Canada.

The Quebec-based companysays all that remains now is to finalize the submission of the remaining documentation to Transport Canada for the smaller of its two CSeries jets.

The company said earlier this month that its CSeries aircraft had made more than 1,000 test flights for the certification process.

It added at the time that it expected certification by the end of the year.

Rob Dewar, vice-president for the CSeries aircraft program, says the jet now is conducting route proving exercises by touching down at airports across Canada and the United States.

Dewar says the CSeries is preparing to enter service with Swiss International Air Lines, part of the Lufthansa Group, in the first half of 2016.
