As you sit down to do your taxes this weekend, you'll be painfully reminded of just how much you contribute to the smooth functioning of our society. In the 2013-14 fiscal year, the government spent $276.8 billion, and 80 per cent of it came from tax revenue. We take a look at how those tax dollars were divvied up.

Federal government collected $220B in taxes last year, almost half of it from personal income tax
