Telus revenue up 3% to $2.95B thanks to wireless growth

The Vancouver-based telecom company's wireless division brought in an average of $61.86 per user, up 1.5 per cent from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, its base of wireless subscribers grew 1.8 per cent from a year earlier to 7.8 million.

Overall revenue at Telus increased 3.4 per cent to $2.95 billion, with the wireless division's share rising by 4.1 per cent to $1.43 billion.

Revenue from wireline services such as home phones, internet and television distribution grew by 3.4 per cent to $1.36 billion.

The Vancouver-based telecom company says it had $301 million of adjusted net income in the final three months of 2013, up 12.7 per cent from a year earlier.

Telus's net income was $290 million, or 47 cents per share, up 10 .3 per cent from a year earlier.

Analysts were looking for 48 cents of adjusted earnings and net income, according to estimates compiled by Thomson Reuters.
