Tim Hortons creates Alberta Rose donut to aid flood relief

Tim Hortons patrons in Alberta wanting to help with flood relief might want to consider ordering an Alberta Rose donut with their coffee in the next little while.

The chain restaurant says it has created a special doughnut named after the provincial flower, the wild rose,that will be sold for $1 at its Alberta outlets for a limited time.

Tim Hortons says all the money raised will be donated to Red Cross flood relief efforts in southern Alberta. Last week's flooding is estimated to have caused billions of dollars in damages to infrastructure and the economy.

The rose-shaped disaster doughnut is vanilla dipped, has a yellow Venetian cream centre and is topped with pink, red and white strawberry bark.

It's available beginning Friday.
