Toyota pedal fix en route to factories

Toyota will tell customers how it plans to fix sticky pedals next week, but it is already sending new gas pedal systems to car factories instead of dealerships, the embattled auto giant said Friday.

Dealers irate over not receiving new components first

Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons confirmed to The Associated Press Friday that parts have already started shipping to factories, and that's normal procedure for distributing replacementparts.

But some dealers say they should get the parts first, because they're the ones who deal with customer concerns, and have no way to address them for the roughlyeight million recalled vehicles in Europe, North America and China.

The company presented a remedy to U.S. federal regulators on Thursday before company employees were givendetails on Friday. The company did not specify what time next week customers would be notified.

Once it reveals exactly how the fix will work, repairs will be completed within a month, the company says.
