B.C. Liberals narrow gap with NDP, says poll

The B.C. Liberals have further narrowed the gap and now trail the NDP by six points, according to an Ipsos Reid poll.

The poll of 800 adult British Columbians, taken Wednesday and Thursday, indicates the NDP has 43 per cent of the decided vote, down five points from the start of the campaign, while the Liberals sit at 37 per cent support, up eight points from the start of the campaign.

The Green Party is in third place with 10 per cent, followed by the Conservatives at seven per cent.

The NDP maintains an eight-point lead in Metro Vancouver with 46 per cent. On Vancouver Island, the NDP has a 12-point lead, down from 20,at 44 per cent support compared to the Liberals 32 per cent.

The Liberals and NDP are tied in the southern Interior and the north.

The New Democrats continue to lead with female voters, at 48 per cent support compared to the Liberals 33 per cent. The Liberals are leading by four points among male voters.

On leadership, Christy Clark now leads Adrian Dix by three points as best premier, an improvement from a 13-point deficit for Clark at the start of the campaign.

Currently, 34 per cent choose Clark as best premier. Dix is selected by 31 points of voters, down from 36 per cent at the start of the campaign.

John Cummins is selected byeight per cent, up one point, and Jane Sterk byseven per cent, down one point.

Clark has gained three points among male voters, giving her a 10-point lead with 39 per cent support to Dixs 29 per cent.

Dix, however, has lost nine points, with women, giving him a six-point lead at 34 per cent to Clarks 28 per cent.
