1 dead after tree falls on moving car in South Vancouver

One person is dead after a tree fell on their car while they were driving in Vancouver on Tuesday evening.

One person is dead after a tree fell on their car while they were driving in Vancouver on Tuesday evening.

Vancouver police say they were called to Marine Way near River District Crossing at 5:15 p.m. PT for reports of a tree falling on a moving vehicle. A single occupant was killed.

According to B.C. Emergency Health Services, two ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene, but no one was transported to hospital. Fire and rescue crews and an arborist also responded to the accident.

Video shot at the scene shows a dark green Honda Accord with an Alberta licence plate crushed beneath the tree.

Marine Way between Kerr Street and Boundary Road was closed Tuesday night while police investigated. Officers are asking for anyone with dash cam footage from the area between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to call604-717-3012.
