1 man killed in shooting in Chilliwack

One person is dead after a shooting in Chilliwack, B.C., on Tuesday evening, according to RCMP.

Investigators believe Tuesday evening homicide was targeted

One person is dead after a shooting in a residential area of Chilliwack, B.C., on Tuesday evening, according to RCMP.

Mounties saidneighbours reported gunshots inside a home in the 9700-block of Windsor Streetaround 5:45 p.m. PT.

First responders found a wounded man inside the house. The 34-year-oldwas taken to hospital, where he died.

Shortly after, an SUVwas found burning in the 4600-block of Bailey Road, a rural area of the city abouteightkilometres south of the scene of the shooting.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which has taken over the case, said the killing and the burning SUVare connected.

"We're still looking to learn as much as we can and I hope to have more information later today,"said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and are looking into whether there is any link to gang conflicts in the Lower Mainland.
