2 CN Rail freight cars derail in New Westminster

Several freight cars derailed on Canadian National Railway's main line near New Westminster Sunday morning.

The cars ran off the tracks near Brunette Avenue and Columbia Street early Sunday morning

It does not appear the materials inside the three freight cars that ran off the tracks on Canadian National Railway's main line in New Westminster on Sunday morning were dangerous, as no hazmat teams have been called out. (CBC)

Several freight cars on Canadian National Railway'smain line near New Westminster ran off the tracks overnight.

Police are on scene near BrunetteAvenue and Columbia Street,where twoempty graincars derailed as the train approached the Fraser River Rail Bridge.

CN says there were no reports of any injuries, and rail operations in the area were not interrupted.

Police said they expected the cars to be back on track within a couple of hours.
