Two men have been charged after a man carrying a baby was shotoutside a restaurant in Vancouver's Dunbar neighbourhood.

Man was also with woman and 3-year-old at time of targeted shooting in Dunbar neighbourhood Tuesday

Two men have been charged after a man carrying a baby was shotoutside a restaurant in Vancouver's Dunbar neighbourhood.

Police said a 42-year-old Vancouver manwas injured in the shootingwhich happened near West29th Avenue and Dunbar Street around 5:45 p.m.

The man, who was carrying thebaby in a car seat, was also with a woman and a three-year-old at the time, police said.

Officers were called to the area after several 911 calls reported shots being fired, police said.

Thesuspects fled in a carand collided with a parked car. They tried to run away again on foot, but police found and arrested them nearby.

Liban Hassan, 35, and Ahmed Ismail, 24, have been charged with attempted murder, police said Wednesday.

"This was a reckless act in a heavily populated area, very early in the evening," Const. Tania Visintin said in a statement.

"It's frightening for the neighbourhood and the consequences could have been far worse. This type of crime is not welcome in Vancouver."

Police say their investigation continues, and bothmen will remain in custody until their next court appearance next week.
