2 arrested after high-speed car chase ends in Abbotsford

Coquitlam RCMP have arrested two suspects after a high-speed car chase that started in Coquitlam and ended in Abbotsford.

Coquitlam RCMP have arrestedtwo people after a high-speed car chase that started in Coquitlam and ended in Abbotsford.

Police say the chase started around the area of the 2900 block of Silver Springs Boulevard in Coquitlam.

They said thesuspect vehicle was associated with reports of "suspicious activity" in that areabefore it fled around midnight Wednesday, damaging the respondingCoquitlam RCMP police car.

The vehicle was tracked by an RCMP helicopter through Surrey, where it collided with another police carbefore continuing on Highway 1 into Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford Police Department deployed a spike belt near the Mt. Lehman Road exit, which stopped the vehicle around 12:26 a.m. Thursday.

Abbotsford police chased the two suspects a short distance on foot, and finally apprehended themnear the Mt. Lehman exit on Highway 1.

No police officers were injured in the chase, and Coquitlam RCMP say they will notbe releasing any more information at this time,pending the approval of criminal charges to the two suspects.
