The shooting death of a man last night on a residential cul-de-sac in Abbotsford, B.C., was a targeted hit, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

The man was known to police, but is not being named publicly as his next of kin have not been notified.

The shooting happened in the 3100 block of Crown Court last night shortly after 9 p.m. PT. Abbotsford police gave him first aid, and he was transported to hospital, but died from his injuries less than an hour later.

"It's too early to tell if the homicide is linked to an ongoing conflict," said Cpl. Meghan Foster in a news release.

The scene will be cordoned off for an "undetermined amount of time," she wrote.
