Disciplinary hearing set for Osoyoos Mountie Amit Goyal

The RCMP have scheduled a disciplinary hearing for an Osoyoos officer at the centre of a lawsuit brought by a former resident who claims he was harassed by the force.

The RCMP have scheduled a disciplinary hearing for an Osoyoos officer at the centre of a lawsuit brought by a former resident who claims he was harassed by the force.

The conducthearingfor Const. Amit Goyalis scheduled for March 8in Vancouver.It's the third time the RCMP have re-scheduled the hearing.

Goyal had been working at the Osoyoos detachment,but he suddenly left in the fall of 2013.

RCMP have repeatedly refused to comment on the situation, but have confirmed Goyal is suspended with pay.

Last year StevenCondon,a former Osoyoos resident,filed a civil lawsuit against Goyal and the RCMP. He claimshe had to flee the Okanagan because of police harassment.

Condon allegesGoyal tried to frame him for stealing and burning two vehicles. He also claimshe was interrogated on two occasions by the RCMP and had to take a lie detector test to help prove his innocence.

None of the allegationshave been proven in court.
