B.C. launches liquor policy review website

The B.C. government has launched a new website allowing people to share ideas on how to change liquor laws in the province.

"We want to hear all of those over the next six weeks and I'm looking forward to actively engaging with people around the province through social media during that time to hear their ideas and their stories," Parliamentary Secretary for Liquor Reform John Yap said on Saturday while touring Steamworks Brewing Co.'s new facility in Burnaby.

Yap said the government hopes to discuss possible changes to B.C.'s laws on the use and sale of beer, wine and spirits through the website's blog, Twitter chats and feedback forms.

The site also features written submissions provided by stakeholders, video blogs from Yap, an archival look at B.C.'s liquor history, and answers to commonly held questions around the production, sale and consumption of beer, wine and spirits.

The Liquor Policy Review consultation process ends Oct. 31.

A final report will be presented to Attorney General and Minister of Justice Suzanne Anton by Nov. 25.
