Adrian Dix says he'll reveal plans next week, fueling speculation

The B.C. NDP caucus is meeting in Victoria today as questions continue to mount over the political future of party leader Adrian Dix.

Todays meeting is the first for opposition MLA's since the legislature broke for summer in July. And it comes just a day after Dix announced he would make a decision on his political future next week.

The NDP leader has been under increasing pressure to resign after the partys surprise election loss in May.

In an interview this morning with CBC Radio Ones The Early Edition, Dix said there are lessons to be learned from the election, and he believes leaders are often stronger the second or third time around.

"I've been reflecting on question of what I should do, but what I'm not going to do is quit doing what I've done for eight years: fighting for the ideas I believe in," he said.

"I think I'm very proud of being leader of the NDP, of the work we've done together, and I'm going to continue fighting with everything I have. That's what people elected me to do."

NDP MLA Mike Farnworth says party members are doing their best to focus on the task at hand until Dix announces his next move.

"I think he's been very forthright in saying, Look, I've got to review what happened, I've got to look at my role in the election campaign, my leadership and I'll be making a decision."

Meanwhile, the Liberal government announced yesterday there won't be a fall session of the provincial legislature.
