For the second day in a row, schools in parts of the B.C. Interior and the Fraser Valley have been closed after another snowstorm hit the region overnight Monday.

Environment Canada is warning the storm is still expected to bring more snow and possible freezing rain to many parts of the B.C. Interior on Tuesday.

School districts says the heavy accumulations of snow and hazards from possible freezing rain make road conditions difficult.

School closures for Tuesday include:

Fraser Cascade School District 78 has closed the following schools in Hope, where a power outage has left much of the town in darkness.

  • Coquihalla Elementary.
  • Two Rivers Education Centre.
  • Hope Secondary.
  • Silver Creek Elementary.
  • All schools in Agassiz/Harrison and Boston Bar are open today.

As of 7a.m. PT there was also a significant number of road closures and advisories on B.C. highways.
