A B.C.man accused of posting Islamic State propaganda online has pleaded not guilty to four terrorism-related charges.

Othman Hamdan is in B.C. Supreme Court facing charges of encouragingmurder, assault and mischieffor terrorist purposes.

He is also accused of inducing and instructing someone to carry out a terrorist act.

The court is hearing arguments today about whether comments made by Hamdan to police officers in November of 2014 should be admitted as evidence.

Hamdan was arrested in Fort St. John B.C. in July of 2015 for alleged offences dating back to 2014.

None of the allegations havebeen proven in court and the pre-trial proceedings are expected to last four weeks.

An RCMP statement at the time of his arrest said the propaganda included instructions to kill in the name of jihad.

After Hamdan's arrest, Fort St. John Mayor Lori Ackerman said he was virtually unknown in the community.

A spokesman for the Peace River Muslim Association said his community had never met or even heard of Hamdan before police announced the charges, and that he had never been to the local mosque.
